I promise you a better man… the promise to the woman that kicked me out. A desperate hope from the shady bar I’m in. A better man is a song about despair. The guitar, drums and keyboard filling in the unsaid in the lyrics with their eloquent playing. It gives the song a kind of a desolate feeling.
The song started out as an improv at the start of a rehearsal with the band Forsberg Wilson & Muller. Stefan Hedenström played the Am-F chords on the guitar. It had a ....feeling to it. So we rolled on from there. We added the "chorus" or what would become the chorus and just sung some random words to it as a melody. We were at it for maybe 10 minutes or so and after 5 minutes I hit the record button for my memory. We played around with it the coming months as a song for our stage performances. But we decided that it was good enough to be released as a Gus Muller song. So we did and here it is.
